Men's Basketball Downs Madison 100-85

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team continued their hot shooting in defeating Madison College 100-85 on Friday evening.

The Golden Rams were 11-20 from the three-point line in their first game vs. Cedar Valley College.  They followed that up by knocking down 17 of 33 attempts from beyond the arc vs. Madison.

Anoka-Ramsey started out quick building a 13-5 lead just two and a half minutes into the game.

Madison would fight back with hot shooting of their own and eventually take a 22-20 lead midway through the half.

With Madison holding a three-point lead, Ben Brown would knock down a three-pointer to knot the score at 25, and after a Madison field goal, Brown would connect again to give Anoka-Ramsey a one-point lead.

Madison again went up by three, 32-29 with seven minutes left in the half, but this time Edvonte Copeland would connect from long range to tie the score at 32.

Malik Williams broke a 36-36 tie with his own three-pointer, followed by another from Copeland, and yet another from Williams to give Anoka-Ramsey a 45-38 lead and the Golden Rams would lead 47-43 at halftime.

Madison tied the score at 53-53 with 16:52 to play, and the Golden Rams would lead 65-63 with 12:21 left.

Anoka-Ramsey led 77-76 before making their final push over the last seven minutes.

A 17-0 run over the next four minutes would put the game away as the lead reached as many as 22.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 44.6 percent overall and held a 53-35 edge in rebounds.

Williams finished with 25 points making 7 of 8 from the three-point line and 4 of 5 free throws.

Copeland scored 22 points making 5 of 10 three-pointers and dishing seven assists.

Mamadou Ngom scored 15 points to go with eight rebounds.

Brown finished with 12 points on 4 of 8 from beyond the arc.

Kevin Scramm pulled in 14 rebounds, and Chris Morgan hauled in 11.

The Golden Rams will face Gogebic at 2:00pm Saturday.
