Dave Alto is in his 10th year as Athletic Director at Anoka-Ramsey Community College in 2018-2019. During that time, the Golden Rams have experience unprecedented success on the field and court. The Golden Rams have produced one National Championship team (Women’s Basketball) and 17 Region/District Champions during his tenure.
Over that same period, 28 student-athletes have achieved All-America status.
Prior to starting at Anoka-Ramsey, Alto served as Activities Director at Spring Lake Park High School for nine years. Three student-athletes who attended Spring Lake Park during Alto’s tenure have entered the professional ranks for their respective sports. Alto also served as President of the Minnesota Athletic Directors Association while also serving on the Minnesota State High School League Board of Directors.
For ten years, Alto taught Physical Education in the Buffalo (MN) School District. He was the Head Softball Coach at Buffalo High School for ten years accumulating over 150 wins. Along with coaching softball, he was also the Head Speech Coach for five years, Head Boys Basketball Coach for two years, and at various times assisted with Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Football.
In addition to his duties as Athletic Director at Anoka-Ramsey, Coach Alto teaches classes in the HPER department, and serves as the Head Softball Coach. Since taking over as head coach in 2010 the Golden Rams have set a school record for wins (28 in 2011), have qualified for the Region XIIIA Tournament seven of nine years, and have advanced to the Region Championship game twice. The Golden Rams have produced eight All-American Softball players in the past nine years including the 2011 National Catcher of the Year. In addition, the program has been ranked nationally the past four years with the 2015 squad ranked #7, the 2016 team ranked #9, the 2017 team ranked #6, and the 2018 team ranked #4.
Coach Alto also served as an Assistant Coach for the Women’s Basketball program for six years.
Alto holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Moorhead State University (now Minnesota State University – Moorhead) and a Master’s Degree in Education from Hamline University. He is also a Certified Athletics Administrator.
Dave resides in Brooklyn Park and has two daughters, Bailey and Paxton.
